Why Sunset?

What is “sunset”? It means that certain features of the software will no longer function or be supported by QuickBooks.

Why Sunset?

Intuit continues to develop and improve easy financial tools. As new and improved tools are released, they also must say goodbye to the older versions that have helped us all along the way. Some features of the older versions will be sunsetted.

Check if your business will be impacted

After May 31, 2018, access to add-on services will be discontinued for QuickBooks Desktop 2015 (Windows and Mac). This includes all versions of QuickBooks Desktop 2015 (Pro, Premier, Enterprise Solutions, Accountant Edition, and Mac). Note: If you do not use any of the add-on services in QuickBooks Desktop 2015, your product will continue to work for you, but you will not be able to subscribe to live technical support or any of the other Intuit services that can be integrated with QuickBooks Desktop. In addition to QuickBooks Desktop 2015 (for Windows and Mac), there are a few other Intuit products that are affected by the discontinuation of add-on services.

May 31 Sunsetting QuickBooks Products (affecting 2015 versions):

  • QuickBooks Desktop Pro
  • QuickBooks Desktop Premier (General Business, Contractor, Manufacturing & Wholesale, Nonprofit, Professional Services, and Retail)
  • QuickBooks Desktop for Mac
  • QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions
  • QuickBooks Desktop Accountant
  • QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale

NOTE: QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions – You will continue to have access to support until the expiration of your Full Service Plan. To secure your functionality and uninterrupted service, install the latest version of Enterprise Solutions by May 31.

What features (add-ons) are sunsetting?

These features will be discontinued on May 31 for 2015 QuickBooks Pro, Premier, and Enterprise Solutions.

  • QuickBooks desktop payroll services (Assisted, Basic, Standard, Enhanced, Workers Comp Payment Service, and View My Paycheck)
  • Live support
  • Online backup
  • Online banking
  • Critical security updates
  • Credit Card Processing (including automatic credit card billing and terminal download)
  • Check processing
  • Accountant’s Copy File Transfer (ACFT) service
  • Multi-currency/Exchange Rate
  • Bill Pay
  • Intuit Payment Network 

NOTE: If you don’t use any of the QuickBooks add-on services or require live technical support, you can continue to use your 2015 version. But, if you’re looking for new features, or need a more robust version to keep up with your growing business, you may wish to discuss upgrade options to QuickBooks Pro, Premier, or Enterprise 2018 with your SaaS Direct Transition Specialist.
